Adobe Audition Unable to Read Flac File
"Failed to decode media file xxxxxx.flac"
OP | I am importing FLAC rips from folders. What does this fault message mean? Is it file corruption, or a format incompatibility, or a physical error, or? Any ideas? The files were accurate ripped and still play. Ex-moderator |

Try doing a FLAC to FLAC conversion on the anthology. Must be something about the format or coding. |

I have received this error as well as a 'Timed Out' fault recently. At first I thought it was a network device gone rouge. I methodically power cycled all devices on this node. The errors remained while importing via ControlMAC. I had recently inverse my workflow to include using the iPad2 to view the new albums as they dropped into the library. I did notice that ControlMAC seemed to have increased latency when performing routine tasks (opening, querying AMG for metadata and importing files). To my surprise (and disappointment) it turns out that the iPad2 connection is the culprit. I had several fails earlier trying to 'kill' the iPad app. While in the middle of a very long import that I had unsuccessfully tried several times, I killed the app. All latency behavior ceased and importing has gone back to normal. The behavior is repeatable unfortunately. I had hoped to use the iPad app to view importing progress since my Mac isn't in the same room as my C15. It's dorsum to the erstwhile workflow. OP | I remember we're talking at crossed purposes. Information technology'south a ControlMac fault message. I fixed it by changing the file-name of each rail to just a rail number. (I.e. not changing embedded metadata, just file-name.) I accept also done this to assistance Sooloos find the correct album in AMG. I remember the file names confuse it at times. Ex-moderator |

I become this error bulletin a lot when trying to import alive concert performances in FLAC format (not CD'due south). I pursued it with the Sooloos product managing director in NYC and got nowhere and so I dropped it. So I continue to use an upsampling Cullen-modded Sonos for live concert recordings . If someone figures this out I'one thousand sure information technology would be helpful to others. It is not related to SBE's or corrupted flacs (all the flacs pass the FLAC -t tests). Mayhap a re-flacing is in gild, this is failed with both 16bit and 24bit recordings. Primary: 818v3+ID41, M6 stereo pair, M SpeakerLink cabling, Sonos+96kHz Cullen, silver DSW |

NCPL, for example, digitally recorded live concerts, as well called "ROIO" recordings, free of copyright restrictions, recorded by apprentice archivists. For case, the recording I am currently struggling with to import into Sooloos, was made with high quality microphones (DPA's, a loftier-quality preamp made by Church Audio, mastered by Adobe Audition etc). The source is not a commercially released CD, and doesn't suffer from SBE's (marshal on sector boundaries, I checked that besides) the FLAC files pass FLAC -t test. Source: DPA4061'due south > Church Audio ST-9100 (~+12dB, no HPF) > Sony PCM-D50 (Line In, WAV 16bit/44kHz) I can email the track ane which fails to decode to someone interested in trying it on their gear. How big is the track? Have you sucessfully imported any larger tracks? Meridian owner since 1992 |

Track 01 is thirty.4 Mb. I changed the file names (originally conforming to world wide web.etree.org naming standards) and it still failed to import. I have imported much larger tracks (gavin bryars, sinking of the titanic, anyone?) Principal: 818v3+ID41, M6 stereo pair, M SpeakerLink cabling, Sonos+96kHz Cullen, silvery DSW |

Shop is not total is it ? practice other files import ok (due east.yard. new ripped CD) ? Sample rail is def ok on my system. |

OP | I suspect that the character " in a file name causes this error. I've seen information technology several times but perchance information technology's a coincidence. Peradventure others could keep a look out for this. For example, West 104692 disc four, which has "Emperor" in the title failed. Unalbumising and realbumising, so putting in the AMG code, produced "no metadata for this title". Changing the file names to 01, 02 etc made Sooloos instantly recognise it. Edit: next fail is again on a file with " in the filename, disc 6 of the aforementioned fix, track 21 causes it to neglect. Only taking out the " either side of Davidsbndler and trying again causes information technology to piece of work. I think I'm on to something. Corroboration please?... OP | And another thing, which I only just noticed. In all these cases the albums end up separate. So on importing the binder for CD8 in the same set, 2 tracks were in the "loose" pile, the rest above as an unidentified album. Guess what, the two tracks in the "loose" pile have " in the title! Track 4 & 6 of Due west 104692. Removing the " from the titles stops the splitting, as well every bit the import failure. Ex-moderator |

I used dBpa and converted to WAV format, and information technology imported, very strange. Waste of deejay space and with tagging limitations. Master: 818v3+ID41, M6 stereo pair, Thou SpeakerLink cabling, Sonos+96kHz Cullen, silver DSW |

I am getting this now. I was doing an import yesterday and my Mac went to sleep, part way through the imports. I'm now stuck with a whole host of files and folders in the Sooloos 'incoming' binder and the discs that I am having problems with appear to have 'stale' tracks in folders. It'southward non the first runway on the disc that fails. It happens randomly across track numbers and % import but is e'er consequent with what track fails on what disc. If I play these direct from Sooloos share, then there is nothing wrong with the file. There is also cypher unusual with the filenames, they all accept the same format as imported by iTunes many moons agone. I recollect the aborted import is somehow preventing these folders from being re-imported. I take rebooted cadre and tried with and without 'skip duplicate albums' ticked. I wish ControlMac (and presumably ControlPC) was a bit more resilient to sleep mode and switching network connections mid import, even if it was the power to resume imports rather than just losing them. OP | There is also nothing unusual with the filenames, they all have the same format as imported by iTunes many moons ago. Do they accept quote markets/inverted commas in? When I have had this, 99% of the time, this is the reason and taking them out solves the trouble. That you say it is repeatably the aforementioned tracks suggests it is something like this, or comparable. Ex-moderator |
Re: "Failed to decode media file xxxxxx.flac"

Practise they take quote markets/inverted commas in? Nope. Absolutely nothing. It was the first think that I checked. They did have a '-' in them as they were part of a multiple set (ie '2-20 Come on Eileen.MP3'), merely I took that out of the affected rails to be certain and information technology made no difference. And by the fourth dimension Sooloos is processing it, its been renamed to 'track20.MP3' (which is consequent with the other tracks) and then Sooloos has by and then already processed the file name. OP | I just had this again, and I didn't find anything like " in the file names this time. I used XLD to strip out all the existing metadata in the files (including the cover) and all of a sudden Sooloos was happy. This doesn't tell us what the problem actually is, simply information technology is a piece of work-around. Permit us know if stripping out all the metadata works for you. Ex-moderator |
Re: "Failed to decode media file xxxxxx.flac"

I just ran into this importing while an album (Madonna - Celebration) I had ripped to FLAC with XLD with my usual settings. Control:Mac got stuck on track 2 on both disc 1 and 2. I experimented with metadata and file names starting time, but the simply affair that made the files import was to do a FLAC to FLAC conversion commencement (I used the FLAC to Any Pro awarding). In the aforementioned session I imported FLACs produced the same way both before and after this problem occurred without restarting either Control:Mac or the Core. For what it'due south worth. I'm just in the process of migrating my Sooloos collection from my MD600 to QNAP storage. Usual trouble with back upward of the MD600, Command:Mac kept crashing. One time I had everything backed up I then ran the Sooloos Library Interrogator on both the MD600 and the back up. Turned out in that location was a stack of 59 albums on the MD600 that did non make it onto the back up. I've manually copied the files off my MD600 to a hard drive to reimport them via Control:Mac to the QNAP to complete the migration and every single album refuses to import due to the "Failed to decode media" file problem. So far the FLAC to FLAC conversion has failed using XLD, I presume that this is due to abuse somewhere in the files but it does rather worry me that there are so many errors coming off the MD600. I'm just copying the files to a network drive and then that I can try Foobar in Windows. All file names are in the standard trackXX.FLAC format. Sooloos, Roon, G series (with LPS upgrade), 800 serial (with LPS upgrade), HD621, AC200, Prime and PS, DSPs sometime and new. Purdeys, Moke, Leica, 'Blad. Only the best. |
